《高職通用英語》是一套專供高職學生使用的英語教材。這套書共有四冊（預備級和一~三冊），預備級專供入學時英語基礎較差的學生使用。本書為第二冊。整套書的教學要求貼近高職學生參加的全國高等學校英語應用能力考試水準。
《高職通用英語》是一套專供高職學生使用的英語教材。它是采用2000年出版的《學院英語》開展了兩輪教學實踐的基礎上，結合教育部有關新的考核要求，重新組織素材編寫而成的。
高職的英語教學，更為強調學生獲得運用英語進行工作和日常交流的能力。本書作者在這方面做了積極的嘗試，認為高職英語教學的主要特點是強調“能力為本”，加強口語和聽力訓練，努力將聽、說、讀、寫等技能訓練有機結合，避免把整體性很強的語言學習（尤其在基礎階段）人為地分割為互不相干的數門課程！陡呗毻ㄓ糜⒄Z》在堅持以上特色的基礎上，吸收了教學過程中教師和學生所提的意見，更為注重基本技能訓練，在選題和編排方面都有提高，擴大了容量，增加了學生練習冊。這套書共有四冊（預備級和一～三冊），預備級專供入學時英語基礎較差的學生使用。本書為第二冊。整套書的教學要求貼近高職學生參加的全國高等學校英語應用能力考試水準。
